Urantians attacked by "neurodivergent" minor playing journalist.
But credit for disbelieving race and eugenics teachings ... ?
This topic merits discussion. I will be hosting ZOOM meetings this Thursday and Saturday at noon ET. Send me an email, if you would like to participate.
On May 14, 2025, a Prospect High School student from an affluent Chicago suburb was allowed to publish a highly defamatory article, “Namesake’s past revealed: School grapples with Kulieke investigation.” The article concerns their first principal, Alvin Kulieke, who also was the first president of Urantia Brotherhood. The call for action is to rename Kulieke Theater. The issue is race and eugenics.
Apparently, it is permissible for minors, who probably have never put in a 40-hour work week, to use public resources to push political agendas intended to destroy an adult’s reputation for their life’s work. What kind of parents and educators instill this type of arrogance in minors and provide them the technology necessary to amplify their voice in this manner?
Maybe they take their lessons from Greta Thunberg’s parents. Is that what we are trying to produce in the United States--the next Greta? At least the school has taken reactionary measures to their own lack of supervision by claiming the naming issue as their own. Word is that sometime this summer the administration will address this.
The student put her name to the article. And she chose to identify herself as “neurodivergent” in a related video interview. My disinclination to use the minors name extends to use of the politically charged, conclusion-assuming word “neurodivergent.” It reminds me of people who push the “transgender” ideology by demanding others use words that affirm their worldview.
Sadly, this young student’s relatively brief and amateurish investigation into The Urantia Book reflects how a professional journalist might operate, as well. Under researched, inflammatory journalism is normative. And the Urantia community is not known for championing this revelation’s unique quality of credibility. Likewise, we are not known for championing the forever timely teachings about race and eugenics. Pure cowardice, masking as enlightened and progressive interpretations and beliefs, defines the Urantia community’s reputation when it comes to the teachings about race and eugenics. Naturally, when people investigate and find that we are not championing the teachings on race and eugenics, they reasonably respond like we are trying to hide something we think is wrong.
Sadly, as a collective, the Urantia community will breathe a sigh of relief that their disbelief protected them a little bit from what could have been worse. Intellectually, the Urantia community says The Urantia Book is an epochal revelation and provides information the world needs most to know. But emotionally, the Urantia community is content with being ignored and will be largely unresponsive to this attack.
The justification will be that the revelation is like Jesus, and we are like Jesus’ body. Therefore, we must not resist or advertise the evil. There is no need to defend the revelation.
Of course, in other contexts, Urantia Book readers talk about how they would have loved to be Jacob, the stone mason’s son, who defended Jesus when they were youths. Now, only words are needed for the defense of this epochal revelation, peaceful ways are all that is required, but who wants to stand up for the real revelation, the actual teachings?
When you say “the Urantia community is…not known for championing the forever timely teachings about race and eugenics,” the thought that comes to mind is, why wave a red flag in front of a bull? In my opinion it is not a wise way of introducing the Urantia Book. Rather, people who find the book and come to recognize its value will eventually come across the teachings on race and eugenics, and then make a decision about its validity, and will more likely will have the philosophic framework necessary to recognize the truth of the teaching.
